Washing Machine Dimensions
When it comes to Washing Machine Dimensions, bigger is not necessarily the better option. Especially if you have a small laundry room. It all depends on what you need. The washing machine types below are listed from the biggest to the smallest.
The Large Washing Machine Dimensions
Models belonging in the large category can handle up to 12 lbs of laundry at the same time. If you have a big family (or a large wardrobe collection) this is ideal. The disadvantage with washing machine sizes like these units is they can be difficult to move.
They are usually 2 to 2 ½ cubic ft. The extra large ones come in at 2 ½ to 3 ft, or even 3 ft. However, most of the units sold nowadays are very efficient in using energy.
Medium or Standard Washing Machine Dimensions
These models are around 27 inches wide and can handle up to 10 lbs of laundry. The 10 lbs is only an average; some standard models may handle a pound or two more or less. This washing machine size is suitable for a family of four.
Models come with different features but almost all have fast wash controls. Depending on the model, it may or may not have an express dry feature.
Small Washing Machine Dimensions
By definition, a small washing machine is usually 24 inches wide. When it comes to capacity, the amount they can handle is 6 to 8 lbs. This washer is ideal for a single individual or for couples. These models are either portable or can be installed in a single place.
The portable washers are usually connected to the sink. This in turn is linked to the water source. The small size and portability have made these models very popular among singles and people residing in apartments.
Washer / Dryer Types
When looking at washing machine sizes, you’ll come across these combination types. They are usually 27 inches in wide. The dryers included are typically electric although some units use gas. The unit could be a front loading washer (with a stacked dryer).
Or it could be one unit with the dryer and washer built in. The washer / dryer are less expensive than other washing machines. The problem is that when one component is damaged, it will likely affect the other one as well.
Features in a Quality Washing Machine
An automatic dispenser will let you put in the laundry products at the exact time. If you’re new to washing machines, this is a nice feature to have. It is also very convenient. An automated temperature control will set hot and cold water temperatures at the right level.
Other washers have speed combinations, time delay and water control. The time delay is used to start the unit at a specified time. Stackability allows you to set the dryer on the washer. This is perfect for those with restricted space.
The extra rinse / warm rinse features lets you alter the rinsing. You will want this if some of your clothes are sensitive to certain types of detergents.
An important thing to remember is to only get the washer with the features you really need. Aside from the Washing Machine Dimensions, there are other features you should look at but size is probably high on your list.
