Smoke Detector Dimensions: First Alert SA302CN

The unit is 5.7 x 5.7 x 2.8 inches. The alarm makes use of ionization and also photoelectric sensors. The latter technology is used for sensing various types of smoldering flames. These types include burns caused by cigars. The ionization is more adept at detecting fires that erupt quickly.

The PI9000 uses a 9 volt battery. It also comes with a red LED light. This blinks every half a minute to indicate that it is running. There is also a reset button so you can test the system anytime.

Smoke Detector Dimensions: Kidde KN-COSM-IB

The KN-COSM-IB measures 5.75 inches in diameter and is 1.7” deep. The main feature of the unit is its voice warning system. This feature will inform you specifically if the cause for alarm is fire, carbon monoxide etc.

The voice warning system will also notify you verbally if the battery needs to be replaced or if it’s set to hush mode. In case of fire, the LED light will come on. There will be 3 alarms and the voice warning “Fire!”

For carbon monoxide, the alarm will go off four times followed by the voice warning. The alarm comes with a 9 volt battery backup, helpful during power outages.

Smoke Detector Dimensions: 914 Fire Sentry

The 914 Fire Sentry alarm measures 4.1 x 4 x 1.5”. It comes with a 9 v battery and a test button. The test button can be used to verify the working status of the electronics and the battery as well.

The 4 inch diameter makes the device compact and so doesn’t take up a lot of space (and is discreet). There is also a low battery indicator and it comes with a three year warranty.

To make sure that the smoke detector works, you should follow the installation guides. This will vary per product, so follow all the directions.
