Biggest Navy Ships
Some of the biggest Navy ships listed here are still under construction or being planned. Ships in those conditions will be indicated below.
The Top Five
The largest is the Enterprise class. This aircraft carrier is 342 m 1,123 ft long and has a displacement of 93,500. The Enterprise is in service and operated by the United States Navy.
Number two are the Nimitz class. Each of the ten aircraft carriers in the Nimitz class is 333 m 1,092 ft long. The displacement is 102,000. All the ships are in service.
At number three is the Ford class of aircraft carriers. Each one is 332 m 1,090 ft long and with a displacement of 100,000. These aircraft carriers are still in the planning stage. The main builder is Northrop Grumman Newport News. It will be operated by the US Navy.
The Kitty Hawk class aircraft carriers are at number four. Each of the four aircraft carriers is 327 m 1073 ft long. Each has a displacement of 83,960. These carriers are no longer in service.
The Forrestal class is number five. Each of the five aircraft carriers is 325 m 1066 ft long. The displacement is 80,000. Like the Kitty Hawk, Forrestal aircraft carriers are now decommissioned.
The Biggest Navy Ships: Six to Eleven
The Kennedy class aircraft carrier is ranked six. It is 320 m 1052 ft long and has a displacement of 83,960. The Midway class of aircraft carriers is at seventh place. Each one is 306 m 1003 ft long and with a displacement of 45,000. These aircraft carriers are now decommissioned.
The Admiral Kuznetsov class is at number eight. Each of the three aircraft carriers in this class is 302 m 990 ft long. The displacement is 67,000 each. One of the two carriers is still being operated by the Russian Navy.
At ninth place is the Queen Elizabeth class. Each of the three carriers is 284 m 931 ft long. The displacement is 65,000. The carriers are currently being constructed for the British Royal Navy.
The Lexington class aircraft carriers are at tenth place. They were 270 m 888 ft long and had a displacement of 50,000. Both these ships were destroyed.
At number eleven in the list of biggest Navy ships is the Iowa class. It is 270 m 887 ft long and with a displacement of 56,500. Four of these carriers were built, and two are currently being used by the US Navy.
