Allowed Carry on Weights and Sizes
The maximum allowed is 23 x 40 x 51 cm (9 x 16 x 20 in). This includes the wheels and handles. For economy class flights gong to / from the UK, Ireland and the US, the maximum weight allowed is 5 kg (11 lb). In all other countries it is 10 kg (22 lb). For Club Class you are allowed 15 kg (33 lb) for every destination including the US, UK and Ireland.
Specifications for Canadian Flights
Canada to and from the US, the weight allowed is 20 kg (44 lb). The exception is to and from Toronto to Montego Bay in Jamaica. The limit is 23 kg (51 lb). Canada to and from Switzerland, the UK, Spain, the Netherlands, Ireland, Germany, France and Belgium, the limit is 25 kg (55 lb).
Canada to and from Portugal and Haiti, the limit is 50 kg (110 lb). Canada to and from Turkey, Italy and Greece, the limit is 30 kg (66 lb).
Options Plus
If this is purchased, Air Transat carry on luggage dimensions will allow an extra 10 kg (22 lb). Options Plus may not be applicable in all destinations, so contact the airline for more details.
Other Information
Luggage that goes beyond the free weight allowed has to be checked in. Passengers are allowed only one carry on. Samples of business documents, securities, negotiable documents, personal audio/video devices, laptop computers, electronics, silverware, jewelry, money, medical devices, medications and other perishable items have to be in the carry on baggage. They will be rejected as checked baggage.
Lighters have to be placed in a bag that is re-sealable and clear. Lighters are classified under the rules as liquids, gels and aerosols. This ensures the lighter will pass the security check.
After the security check, the lighter must be taken out of the bag and carried by the passenger. Due to safety concerns, lighters are not allowed in checked luggage. The rules on matches are the same as those of lighters. Electronic cigarettes may be carried provided they are not utilized. There is no charge for diaper bags if you are with the infant.
