Longest Hair
A person’s hair is considered as one’s crowning glory. The wrong hair cut or hair style can easily ruin one’s look – no matter how impeccably dressed you are.
This being said, it comes as no surprise that a lot of people do not think twice about spending oodles of money just to keep their hair looking healthy, shiny and attractive at all times.
Women in particular, spend a great deal of time and even money on their hair especially since women’s hair is one of their attractions – adding to their appeal.
Long or short, blonde or brunette; hair styles and hair colors play an important role in making one as attractive as possible. But how short or long should you go?
Longest Hair in the World
The title for the world’s longest hair belongs to a woman in China. She goes by the name of Xie Quiping and she hails from the Guangxi Province in China. The length of her hair would probably put Rapunzel’s to shame.
Her hair was measured back in 2004 and it was approximately more than five meters long – 5.627 to be exact. This is about 18 feet and 5.54 inches long. Apparently, she hasn’t had a hair cut since she was thirteen years of age back in 1973.
So counting from 1973 up to the time when her hair was measured in 2004, she has been growing her hair for over thirty years! While she can manage to wash, clean and brush her hair all on her own; she does need someone to help her carry more than half of its length when she goes out.
Other Record Holders
Prior to the discovery of Xie Quiping, the Guinness Book of World Records listed a woman who hails from India as the person with the longest hair in the world. This lady’s hair was measured back in 1994 and its length was approximated at 4.17 meters. This is about 13 feet and 8.17 inches long.
But unbeknownst to many, there were two gentlemen belonging to a tribe in Northern Thailand that had hair longer than the one that the Guinness Book of World Records listed.
The first one was a man simply called Mr. Yee. His hair was about 4.85 meters long or roughly around 15 feet and 11 inches long. The second man, Mr. Yee’s younger brother who goes by the name Mr. Hook had hair that was 5.24 meter long – a close second actually to the current record holder.
This is about 17 feet and 2.3 inches long.
