Mud Flaps Sizes
Mud flaps dimensions differ greatly, with some measuring 24" x 24" x 6 mm, 24" x 30" x 6 mm or 24" x 36" x 6 mm. There are also mud flaps that measure 61.7 x 61.7 cm x 6 cm and 28 x 24 cm x 4 cm. These flaps are available in many styles, but the way they are installed in cars is the same.
How to Install Mud Flaps
Required Tools and Materials
- Level
- Screwdriver or wrench
- Drill and bit (must match the mud flap screw size)
Step 1
Place the car on even grounds. This is necessary to keep the mud flaps level. If needed, take out the tires first. This will give you more space to work with.
Step 2
Get the first mud flap. Set it in the wheel. Ensure the proper (i.e., decorated) side will face outward. Also make certain the mud flaps are off the surface. Refer to the product guide for more specific info on the ground distance.
Step 3
Make a hole in at the mud flap’s top and into the wheel. Put a screw in and fasten it. But don’t tighten it too much so you can adjust the mud flap if it isn’t level.
Step 4
Get the level. Use it to make adjustments to the mud flap. Keep making adjustments until it is level. The mud flap dimensions may determine how long the adjustment takes. Make a second hole at the opposite end. Put a screw there. Again, make sure the mud flaps are level.
Step 5
Now the screws can be tightened. Use the drill to make more holes. Add the other screws to secure the mud flap. Repeat these steps to put on the other mud flaps.
How to Remove the Mud Flaps
Get a screwdriver and take off the connector. Repeat this for the other connectors. Before you do this, make sure you are using a flat headed screwdriver.
Make sure the screwdriver blade is between the mud flap and connectors. Just like when adding the mud flaps, the car should be parked on an even surface. It should also be a hard surface.
Even if the mud flap dimensions are large, the installation process should not prove too complex. If you have the right screwdrivers, taking it out will be easy too. What is important here is to make sure the vehicle is parked at an even area. This will prevent problems from occurring.
