Pruner Dimensions
Also called pruning shears and secateurs in the UK, pruners are special scissors designed for cutting plants, branches and flowers. There are 3 types: the anvil, which has one blade; the bypass, which resemble scissors and the parrot beak, which has two concave blades.
Pruner Dimensions: Felco Classic Manual Hand Pruner #F-2
The Felco Classic is 8-1/2 inches long and weighs 8 ½ ounces. The pruner has replaceable cutting blades. The anvil blade has a deep sap groove, intended to avoid sticking. To prevent wrist injuries stemming from hours of usage, the Felco Classic has shock absorbers. The handles are forged metal alloy with plastic molding to make handling easier.
The blade is Swiss and intended for heavy duty use. There is also an adjustment key. The nuts and bolts permit the user to make whatever adjustments are necessary. The spring is resistant to corrosion and laden with a metal sheath. It is suitable for trimming roses and other perennials.
Pruner Dimensions: Fiskars 7936 PowerGear Pruner
The Fiskars 7936 measures 3 x 1.8 x 8.2 inches. The pruner has been designed so when the pruner is held, the outside handle turns with the gears. This helps reduce the strain without affecting the results. The handles are constructed of nylon, while the steel blades are replaceable.
The Fiskars 7936 PowerGear pruner has a cutting capacity of ¾ inches, ideal for pruning greens and dead wood. The grip width can be adjusted so those with small hands won’t have problems using it. The spring, along with the other components, are shielded so debris doesn’t get into them.
Pruner Dimensions: Felco F-6 Classic Pruner
The Felco F-6 Classic Pruner is 7.25” long and has a 0.8 cutting capacity. The pruner is designed for those with smaller hands and can be used on shrubs, small trees and vines. The blade is screwed on, making re-sharpening or replacement easier.
The handle is light as it is also intended for use by florists. Because the blades are shorter, it makes it easy to cut plant stems. The pruner parts can be disassembled easily, simplifying the task of replacing worn parts or sharpening the blades.
Pruner Dimensions: Fiskars 7921
The Fiskars 7921 pruner measures .7 x 0.8 x 9.7 inches with a ½” cutting capacity. The pruner is designed for light pruning. It can also be used for cutting and trimming stems. Small branches can also be cut with the pruner.
The Fiskars 7921 is corrosion proof. It will not be damaged even if left out through the night or stored wet. The handles are constructed of fiberglass composite.
The Fiskars 7921 also has a hanging circle built in to make storage easier. It is designed for use by both right and left handed people. There is also a safety catch to keep the jaws joined together when not in use.
Pruner dimensions have to be thought of especially if you prune regularly. Choosing the wrong type could lead to strain, so you need to look for one you’re comfortable using even for long periods.
