Freight Container Size
The following is a list of the most common freight container dimensions used today. While it’s true that some companies make custom boxes, these have been designed as the standard for air freight containers by the IATA.
Standard Air Freight Container Sizes: LD1, LD2 and LD3
The containers are known by the LD number. LD-1 is 92.0 niches wide and 64.0 inches high. The depth is 60.4 inches and the base is 61.5 inches. The maximum load is 3500 lbs (that is ~1588 kg). The shape is Type A.
The LD-2 container is 61.5 inches wide, 64.0 inches high and has a depth of 47.0 inches. The base is also 61.5 inches. The maximum load is 2700 lbs (or ~1225 kg). The shape is also Type A. LD-3 is 79.0 inches wide, 64.0 inches high with a depth of 60.4 inches. The base is 61.5 inches. The load maxes out at 3500 lbs (~1588). The shape is also type A.
Standard Air Freight Container Sizes: LD-4, LD-5 and LD-6
The LD-4 freight container is 96.0 inches wide and 64.0 inches high. The depth is 60.4 inches (the base is not applicable). The maximum load possible is 5400 lbs (~2449 kg). The shape of the LD-4 is rectangular.
The LD-5 container is 125.0 inches wide, 64.0 inches high and 60.4 inches deep. The base is also not applicable here. The maximum load is 7000 lbs (that is about ~3175 kg). The shape is also rectangular. The LD-6 freight container is 64.0 high, 60.4 inches deep and 160.0 inches wide. The base is 125.0 inches and the maximum load is 7000 lbs (~3175 kg). The shape is Type B.
Standard Air Freight Container Sizes: LD-7, LD-8 and LD-9
The LD-7 is 125.0 inches wide and 64.0 inches high. The depth is 80.0 inches; the base is not applicable. The total load possible is 13300 lbs (~6033 kg). The shape is contoured or rectangular. The LD-8 freight container is 64.0 inches high, 125.0 inches wide with a depth of 60.4 inches. The base is 96.0 inches. The load maxes out at 5400 lbs (~2449). The shape is Type B.
The LD-9 is 125.0 inches wide, 64.0 inches high and has a depth of 80.0 inches. The maximum load is 13300 lbs (~6033 kg). The shape is like the LD-7, rectangular or contoured.

The LD-10 freight container is 125.0 inches wide, 64.0 inches high and 60.4 inches deep. The maximum load is 7000 lbs (~3175 kg). The shape is contoured (the base is not applicable). The LD-11 is 125.0 inches wide, 64.0 inches high and 60.4 deep. The max load is similar to the LD-10 (7000 lbs). The shape is rectangular.
The LD-29 is 186.0 inches wide, 64.0 inches high with a depth of 88.0 inches. The base is 125.0 inches and the max load is 13300 lbs (~6033 kg). The shape is Type B.
As stated earlier, airlines (and shipping companies) may rely on other freight container sizes other than the ones mentioned here. It all depends on the cargo that needs to be transported.
