Today’s technology has made electric fireplaces quite common. These are just like the real thing except there’s no messy wood to work with. The following are some models you might come across.

Fireplace Dimensions: Bionaire BFH5000-UM

This electric fireplace measures 31-1/4 by 4 x 23-7/8 inches. It comes with logs and embers that glow. The fireplace doesn’t have to be installed. The fireplace can be put on the floor or placed on a wall and plugged in.

The heat is generated from the vents and spreads rapidly. The unit can be programmed so the flames can appear minus the heat. Setting up is done via push buttons and it also comes with a digital display.

The Bionaire BFH5000-UM also has a thermostat for configuring the temperature. There is also a 12 hr timer included. This can be used to automatically turn it off at predetermined times.

The unit measures 11-2/7 by 20 x 23-1/8 inches. The Dimplex CS3311 comes with 3D fire displays, and it is a freestanding device. An electric fireplace, it can be set on an ordinary plug and switched on.

The fireplace works with a fan-forced heater. The Dimplex CS3311 can produce 5,115 BTUs. The built in thermostat permits the user to choose desired heat levels. The controls are discreetly set up. There is also a remote control so the unit can be activated easily.

Three controls are set on the rear: the knob for controlling the temperature, one to turn it on/off and one to turn the heat on or off.

Fireplace Dimensions: DeLonghi SFG1031

The unit measures 13-3/5 x 20 x 22-2/5 inches. Instead of the usual flames, the display features coals with flames. Like other electric fireplaces, it can be plugged into an ordinary outlet and switched on.

The unit can be turned off using the slider control up front. It’s also used to turn on / turn off the heat and keep the display on. The DeLonghi SFG1031 can be set to either minimum (950 w) or maximum watts (1500).

When you get the desired temperature, the thermostat can be turned to preserve that setting. The unit also has a built in safety feature: it shuts down automatically when it starts to overheat.

The fireplace is 10-4/5 x 34 x 36-2/3 inches and has a 20 inch firebox. The fireplace utilizes less than 88% energy than a typical gas fireplace. The built in fan heater spreads the heat uniformly in the area.

There is also a thermostat that permits the user to keep the chosen heat level. The fireplace also has a remote control so the unit can be turned on and off more easily. The CFP3913O Compact has an oak design. Also included is a mantel where jars and other objects can be placed.

The right fireplace dimensions depend on your needs. If you just need one for the den, a smaller fireplace will do. If you want to warm up a large area, you’ll need a bigger model.
