Today’s nail guns do more than just drive in nails. Most of them can function as staplers. The units also come in a variety of sizes and shapes.
Nail Gun Dimensions: Bostitch U/BT200K
The Bostitch U/BT200K-2 5/8-to-2-Inch 18 gauge brad nailer measures 9 x 4 x 10 inches. It can drive in 5/8 to 2 ½ inch, 18 gauge brad nails. There is a depth adjuster and it works oil free. The casing is magnesium. The Bostitch U/BT200K can be used for finishing, stapling and other tasks.
The unit weighs 2.1 lbs and the unit doesn’t emit any loud nose. A magnetic magazine is included for loading purposes. The unit can also be used to countersink. The package comes with the brad nailer and a case for holding the nail gun.
Nail Gun Dimensions: Hitachi NT65MA2
The Hitachi NT65MA2 measures 6 x 17 x 27 inches and weighs 4.2 lbs. The nail gun comes with a built in air duster to remove debris. The body is composed of aluminum. The air deflector can be adjusted. The package comes with safety glasses and the case. The magazine is comprised of nylon. The tool is intended for use on casings, stairways, rails and similar objects.
The selection control can be slid up or down. This allows the user to select between continuous or intermittent firing. The magazine is set at 34 degrees so it can be used even in otherwise inaccessible spots. It can store up to 100 15-gauge finishing nails.
Nail Gun Dimensions: Stanley TR250 SharpShooter Plus
The Stanley TR250 SharpShooter Plus measures 9 x 10 x 1 inches. The nail gun can function as a staple gun, cable tacker and brad nailer. The drive channel is comprised entirely of metal; its purpose is to make penetration more effective. The housing is made of aircraft aluminum. There is also a hi/lo lever for use on soft and hard metals.
The nose has a flush design to permit access to difficult spots. The grip areas are layered with black rubber to make handling comfortable. It works with a variety of staples including 1/4", 3/8", 1/2" or 6 mm, 10 mm and 14 mm.
Nail Gun Dimensions: Grip-Rite GRTMP16
The Grip-Rite GRTMP16 weighs 1.1 lbs and can drive 3-1/2-inch 16d framing nails. In terms of size it is about a third of an average palm nailer. The tool can be used on a variety of tasks. The Grip-Rite GRTMP16 can be used on joist hangers.
The Grip-Rite GRTMP16 can be utilized in other ways, such as driving in 3” long nails in 3.5” veneer lumber. A 14d nail will take a couple of seconds to drive it in.
Tips and Warnings
Some of the nail guns are noisy, so put hearing aids when using them. Also keep in mind that larger nail guns are necessary for large tasks.
Whatever the nail gun dimensions / type you choose, always follow the instructions for using it. Also make sure the nail gun is used only on materials it can handle.
