Whether your profession requires it or you just need it every now and then, a rivet gun’s usefulness is determined only by its size and features. Here are the specs for some rivet guns.
Rivet Gun Dimensions: Stanley MR100CG Contractor Grade Riveter
The Stanley MR100CG Contractor Grade Riveter utilizes 1/8", 3/32", 5/32" and 3/16" aluminum and stainless steel rivets. The unit is contractor grade die cast metal and built for stainless steel rivets. The device also has an ejector spring that can be removed. The MR100CG also comes with various heads and can double up as a hammer.
The utility can be used to pop 1/8” rivets by gripping it. The MR100CG comes with a long handle to make squeezing easier. It is designed for utilization on marine applications. Its composition is designed to make it last long.
Rivet Gun Dimensions: Campbell Hausfeld PL1539
The Campbell Hausfeld PL1539 has a 16 inch rivet capacity and has a 2,000 pound of pull. The 2,000 lb pull also makes it ideal for other tough tasks. This also allows for the rivets to be set up with a maximum of 3/16” in diameter. It is also possible to make adjustments to the rivet size.
The gun rivet can be used on steel and aluminum rivets (the diameters can be from 3/32 to 3/16 inches). The trigger action allows for cyclical rivet popping. The SCFM requirement is set at 90 PSI.
Rivet Gun Dimensions: Arrow Fastener RHT300
The Arrow Fastener RHT300 measures 1 x 6 x 15 inches and weighs 3.1 lbs. The unit’s head can be turned completely (360 degrees). The whole structure is made of steel and comes with a vinyl grip to make handling easier. The RHT300 also has a spring loaded handle. This is designed to make loading and ejection of rivets a straightforward process.
The unit also comes with a long nose for accessing difficult to reach areas (i.e. below the dashboard). The twisting head is also designed to make operations simple with the handle still being squeezable. This unit is most suitable for soft metal rivets.
Rivet Gun Dimensions: ATD-5842
The ATD-5842 is 20.75 inches long and has 2.25 inch nose. There are also five nosepieces. They are set to 1/8, 5/32, 3/16, 7/32, and ¼ inch aluminum and steel rivets. There is also a rivet end waste collector built in. The ATD-5842 can also be used on various tasks like replacing the window regulator on a car.
Tips
Specifications of other rivet guns will vary, but the features here (or something similar) can be found on other tools. If you find yourself popping rivets regularly, consider getting one of the high end types. For more casual users, the ordinary rivet guns will suffice. Don’t think of settling for cheap imitations though, as it may cost you even more.
The rivet gun dimensions and specs should match the metals you’re working with. Some are good only for soft metals, others for hard ones. Get to know its specs so you don’t end up wasting money.
