Gear Shaper Dimensions

A gear shaper is the tool to use if cutting the teeth of gears is needed. While all gear shapers perform this task, their size and features are not the same.

Gear Shaper Dimensions: HS1280-300

The HS1280-300 gear shaper has an external nominal pitch diameter measuring 50" (1270 mm). The internal pitch diameter is also 50". The maximum diameter swing is 72" or 1828 mm. The max face width is 12" (300).

The maximum diametral pitch (spur) is 2 DP (12.7 module). The helical diametral pitch is 2 DP. The helix angle (max) is 40 degrees. The worktable diameter is 44". The cutter spindle stroking range (SPM) is 12-500, while the cutter spindle diameter is 5.51" (140 mm). The HS1280-300 is a 6 axis CNC gear shaper.

Gear Shaper Dimensions: MS300-125

The external and internal nominal pitch diameter is 12" or 305 mm. The maximum diameter swing is 20.5" (equal to 520 mm). The maximum face width is 5" (27 mm). The diametral pitch (spur) is 4 DP (6.35 module). The max diametral pitch (helical) is 5 DP (5.0 module). The helix angle is 45 degrees.

The workable diameter is 13.8" (equivalent to 350 mm). The cutter spindle diameter is 4" (100 mm). The max spindle table position (above) is 22.6" (575 mm), while the minimum is 10.8" or 275 mm.

The MS300-125 has hydraulic fixture clamping and a work area that is enclosed. The HSK Quick Change Cutter System is also included. It has a chip conveyor (comes with rear exit) and a circular back off cam.

Gear Shaper Dimensions: MS450-125

The MS450-125 gear shaper’s external and internal pitch diameter is 20" (500 mm). The max face width is 5" (127 mm). The maximum diameter swing is 40" (equal to 1000 mm). The max diametral pitch (spur) is 3 DP (8.47 module); the helical diametral pitch is 3 DP. The helix angle is 45 degrees.

The cutter spindle stroking range is 20-500. The spindle position above table is 22.24" (equal to 565 mm) max. The minimum spindle position is 10.82" or 275 mm. The MS450-125 has a hydrostatic spur guide. There is also a console (15" LCD). Other features include an open flow/down-wash chip control, the temperature compensation and automatic lubrication.

Gear Shaper Dimensions: HS650-20

The HS650-200’s internal and external nominal pitch diameters measure 25" (650 mm). The diameter swing maxes out at 39" (1000 mm). The spur diametral pitch is 2 DP (12.7 module). The diametral pitch (helical) is 2 DP (12.7 module). The face width is 8" (200 mm). The cutter spindle diameter is 4.72" (or 120 mm). The helix angle is 40 degrees.

The workable diameter is 27.2" (in the metric system that is 690 mm). The cutter spindle stroking range SPM is 12-500. The device also features direct drive spindles, Fanuc 30iB CNC touch screen control and electronic indexing. It is a six axis CNC hydraulic shaper.

Keep in mind that gear shaper dimensions and specs may change depending on the loading system. The specs may also change due to the workpiece geometry.
