Banner Sizes in Pixels
Several banner sizes in pixels have emerged as Internet advertising has evolved. The following are some of the most common banners that are being used on websites.
The Leaderboard
These banners measure 728 pixels by 90 pixels (W x H). It is one of the largest banners that can be used on web pages. It is typically set on a web page’s top part. Called a header, it is often used because they are the first thing a person sees. They are among the most widely used banners today.
The Skyscraper Banner
This is the biggest banner currently used in web ads. They are available in two sizes. The traditional skyscraper is 120 x 600 pixels. The wide variant measures 160 by 600 pixels. They are vertically oriented so they are usually placed in a web page’s left or right columns.
Horizontal banner sizes in pixels are used more often than vertical ads. Horizontal ads are more profitable in terms of pay per click (PPC) ads. PPC pays a website by the number of clicks made on the banner.
A Look at the Full Banner
These measure 468 pixels by 60 pixels. Like the leaderboard, a full banner is set on top of web site. It is one of the most commonly used banners as well.
What is a Square Button?
This is a banner measuring 125 pixels by 125 pixels. You often see them at a web page’s bottom. Square buttons are also located at a web page’s right or left column. This banner is used frequently in blogs as well. These buttons are sold to advertisers. These buttons are also used to establish links leading to a service or online products.
Rectangular Banners
These are available in three sizes: small, medium and large. Large rectangular banners have dimensions of 336 pixels by 280 pixels. Medium banners measure 300 pixels by 250 pixels and the small ones 180 pixels by 150 pixels. They are frequently set on a website’s right or left column. Large and medium rectangles are used more often.
Banner sizes in pixels are always subject to change. This is because advertisers are always looking for ways to improve their presence online. Not all websites use these banners. Only a few of them are actually used by a website. It all depends on the type of ad that you want to use. Some ads are better for leaderboards but others are more suited for square buttons.
