Least Expensive City
With today’s global economic situation where prices seem to be skyrocketing to dizzying heights on a regular basis, one may begin to wonder if there is such a place in the world where living would be less expensive than where you are at the moment.
There are such places that you can find all across the seven continents of the world but there might not be quite as livable as you would want them to be.
Least Expensive Cities in the World
Unfortunately, some of the least expensive cities in the world are located in areas where political unrest is the dominant atmosphere.
Karachi, Pakistan
Karachi is located in the province of Sidh in Pakistan. It is the financial capital of the country as well as its biggest city with an area of 1,361.8 square kilometers. It is an overcrowded city with a population of approximately 15 million people.
If you are used to having your personal space then this city may not be ideal for you. The political unrest and threats of terrorism actually play a huge part in the city being a less expensive place to live in.
However, it does have its breathtaking landmarks and monuments so if you can live under the above conditions, you will be glad to know that your dollar can go quite far in this city.
Islamabad, Pakistan
Islamabad is the capital of Pakistan and also its cultural hub. Like Karachi, it is also overcrowded with a population of over one million people. However, if you want to get value for your dollar, this is the place to live in.
The foreign exchange rate here is quite high and with its beautiful architectural structures including the world-famous Faisal Mosque, you may want to consider living in this city.
Managua, Nicaragua
Managua is situated along the southwestern section of Lake Managua and is the capital city of the country. With a population of 1.8 million people, it is the second most populated city in Central America.
Due to the country’s political history, being ruled by a dictator in the past and going through civil war; Nicaragua’s economy is still struggling to get back on its feet.
Because of this, cost of living in the city of Managua is relatively low. Visitors may find themselves being welcomed into the homes of Managuans for a very small fee. This is one of their means of augmenting their income.
The abovementioned cities are some of the cheapest cities in the world and living n any one of these could really be quite an adventure: interesting culture, beautiful landmarks plus low cost of living.
