US Beer Keg Sizes
The majority of US brewers make their beer in several sizes. The most common are between 5 and 6 gallons (1/6 barrel), 7 and 8 gallons (1/4) and 14 and 16 gallons (/2 barrel). However, keg specifications are not regulated. That is why kegs cannot be used as a liquid measuring standard. Standards differ from country to country. While the US measures in gallons, other countries rely on the metric system.

However, the UK keg system is not metric based. In Germany, the DIN 6647-2 and DIN 6647-1 correspond to 20 and 30 l respectively.
